Alma M. Makley, 86, of St. Marys, OH died 2:10 a.m. Monday March 28, 2016 at Otterbein – St. Marys.

She was born January 6, 1930 in Minster, OH to Aloys and Mary (Moeller) Schwieterman.

On June 24, 1950 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, OH she married Robert A. Makley, who survives.

Also survived by: son Mike (Holly) Makley  of St. Marys, OH

                            daughter Lee (Dan) Boeckman  of Cincinnati, OH

                            daughter Lyn (Rick) Heinl  of Tipp City, OH

                            daughter Julie (Alex) Dumm  of Canton, OH

                            12 grandchildren: Jamie (Adam) Binaut, Stacy (Chad) Bitler, Jenny (Josh) Asher, Rochelle (Ryan) Bednarczuk, Andy (Melanie) Heinl, Nick (Amanda) Heinl, Andrea Dumm, Erica Dumm, Tara (Jason) Marhover, Kelly (Shawn) Sheffield, Tony (Dorian) Makley, Jeff (Kelly Jo) Makley

                            20 great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by: parents Aloys and Mary (Moeller) Schwieterman; brother Richard (Annie) Schwieterman; sister Leona (Kenith “Fat”) Hinze; sister Edna (Tom) Vanderhorst; sister Millie (Robert) McDermott; sister Lucy (Bud) Kettler

She was a graduate of Minster High School, Ohio Northern University (Bachelor’s Degree) and Wright State University (Master’s Degree).

She retired from the St. Marys City Schools, where she was a first grade teacher for many years.

Alma was a beautiful, vibrant woman with a wonderful personality. Her favorite pastimes included traveling, making crafts, golfing and playing cards. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Monday April 4, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant.

Private burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery, in St. Marys.

Visitation 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street Chapel) in St. Marys.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Makley Charitable Trust Fund at the St. Marys Community Foundation.
