William Woods Obituary

William (Bill) Richard Woods, 81, New Knoxville Ohio passed August 30th, 2021, following a brief illness.  Bill was born in Barberton, Ohio to Paul John Woods and Margaret Woods (Dietry).  Bill was raised in Wadsworth Ohio alongside his sister Corrine Woods (Stimely).  Bill was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle throughout his life.  Bill was preceded in death by his family of origin.

Bill was a lifelong licensed electrician with the state of Ohio and shared his skills through his work with Caraustar Industries (Packaging Corporation of America) in Rittman Ohio as a staff electrician for 45 years as well as through a successful residential electric contracting business he ran with his wife, Jacqueline, for 36 years servicing all of Medina County.  Following his retirement from his full-time work and contracting business Bill continued to share his skills and knowledge regarding home improvement, electrical work, and gardening through work with both Sears Service Center and Western Ohio True Value Hardware for five years.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served active duty from 1960 to 1962 and two years reserves from 1962 to 1964.  Bill served as a Seabee on the USS Forrestal.  He carried fond memories of his time of service throughout his life and shared stories often of his work on the ship.

Bill married Jacqueline Ann Woods (Wargo) on August 8, 1964, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth Ohio.  They have now been married for 57 years and enjoyed a fruitful family and life together in both Wadsworth Ohio from 1964 to 2009 and in New Knoxville Ohio from 2009 to present.

Throughout his life Bill was an avid fisherman with many stories of the one that got away.  He spent many days taking his family fishing and helping to teach them the best methods.  Bill was also an accomplished gardener as well as a craftsman at repurposing the old to help the environment and his family.  The lessons he taught his family will carry forth for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife Jacqueline, daughters Michelle (Rob) Katterheinrich and Melanie Woods, and grandchildren Michael Porter, Noah Katterheinrich, and Olivia Woods.

Bill was an active participant in the Methodist faith with memberships throughout his life, most recently with the New Knoxville United Methodist church under the pastorship of Pastor Dennis Gaertner.

Funeral rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 3, 2021, at the New Knoxville United Methodist Church, Pastor Dennis Gaertner, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
