Wendell Schultz Obituary

Wendell L. Schultz, 78, of Saint Marys, died unexpectedly at 11:32 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2018, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 31, 1940, in Celina, the son of Paul and Leona (Hecht) Schultz.

He married  Delores “De” Nedderman on  August 26, 1961; she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his daughters: Malinda (Kevin) Bubp of Saint Marys; Wendee (Jesse) Bertke of Coldwater, Ohio.

He is survived by his grandchildren: Heather (Jed) Richards of Gulf Breeze, Florida; Scott (Andrea Zickafoose) Dammeyer of Wapakoneta; Megan (David) Stevens of Harrod, Ohio; Cole Bertke, Carter Bertke and Caleb Bertke, all of Coldwater. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Radley Richards, and by a sister, Jeannette (Robert) Hare of Celina.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Virginia Yahl of Florence, Kentucky; Nancy (Tom) Hunter of Wapakoneta; Bill (Marilyn) Nedderman of Saint Marys; Betty (Larry) Symonds of Venice, Florida; Kaye Burd of Saint Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wendell was a 1958 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He retired from Siferd-Hosselman Automotive, and he was a lifelong farmer.

He enjoyed repairing and dealing  farm machinery, and he had a real passion for collecting and selling farm toys. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton.

Wendell never knew a stranger. He always seemed to find someone he knew no matter how far from home. Wendell had a great love and pride for his family. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton, the Reverend Doug Pretorius, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.

Friends may call from noon until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the church, where, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
