Wade Gordon

Wade Gordon, 89, of Saint Marys, died 5:22 P.M. Monday, November 4, 2024, at Vancrest of Saint Marys.

He was born October 31, 1935, in White Oak, Tennessee, the son of Robert and Lela (King) Gordon.

He married Thelma Evans on May 11, 1957, in White Oak, and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2017.

He is survived by his daughters: Pat (Wayne) Loyer of Saint Marys; Cherry (Kevin) Koeper of Saint Marys; Teresa (Tom) Maze of Saint Marys.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Joe (Natalie) Turpin; Luke (Sarah) Turpin; Amy (Mike) Sawmiller; Jen (James) Carpenter; Lainey Greenbaum; Mason Maze; Logan Maze.

He is survived by his sister, Shelby Pruitt of Greenville, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Burl Gordon, his son-in-law, Bud Turpin.

Wade was a graduate of Jellico High School in Jellico, Tennessee, and also a graduate of Cumberland College. He retired from the Minster Machine Corporation.

He was a member and Deacon of Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Marys. He was a true Southern gentleman who was kind and friendly to everyone. He enjoyed planting a big garden each year and canning the produce he grew. He also really enjoyed fishing and was a big fan of the Tennessee Vols. He loved his family and church more than anything in life.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Samaria Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Jordan Martin, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-7 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either Samaria Missionary Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital.
