Virgil C. Behr, 63, of 333 Concord Avenue in St. Marys, OH died 9:55 p.m. Friday March 16, 2012 at his residence.

 

He was born July 14, 1948 in Sidney, OH to Wilbur and Rita (Greve) Behr.

 

On April 15, 1978 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry Prairie, OH he married Patricia A. Dorsten, who survives.

 

He is also survived by:

Son, Curt (Ashley) Behr of St. Marys, OH

3 grandchildren: Cameron Wilker, Kadin Behr, Mackenzie Behr

Father and step-mother Wilbur (Bea) Behr of Fryburg, OH

Brother, Melvin (Linda) Behr of Wapakoneta, OH

Brother, Eugene "Yogi" Behr of Wapakoneta, OH

Brother, Jerry (Jewelie) Behr of Cartersville, GA

Brother, Norman (Kim) Behr of Fryburg, OH

Brother, Nelson Behr of Columbus, OH

Brother, Denny (Karen) Behr of Troy, OH

Sister, Donna (Denny) Steinke of Wapakoneta, OH

Sister, Carol (Dan) Hemmert of Sidney, OH

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Behr; parents-in-law, Victor and Justina Dorsten.

 

He was a graduate of Wapakoneta High School (Class of 1966) and also graduated from Northwestern Business College in Lima, OH.

 

A veteran of the US Army, he served in Korea during the Viet Nam War.

 

He was the owner of Kellermeyer's Men's Clothing Store in downtown St. Marys. Previously, he had been employed at First National Bank in Wapakoneta and Bank One in St. Marys for 25 years.

 

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council

# 1592, VFW Post # 9289, Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767, all in St. Marys.

 

An active member of the community, he served on the Friends of Holy Rosary board, Good for Business of the Capabilities program and assisted and advised Agape Ministries in their financial matters.

 

Virgil's favorite pastimes included golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and his family.  

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled 10:30 a/m. Wednesday March 21, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher, celebrant. Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 - 10: 00 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.

Memorial contributions may be directed to: Friends of Holy Rosary, Auglaize Co. Cancer Society, or Grand Lake Hospice Program.
