Vernon Brannon Obituary

Vernon F. Brannon, 78 years of age of Southmoor Shores passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in the company of his loved ones.  Vern was born October 1, 1939 in Fisk, Missouri to Everett and Pearl Brannon. Survivors include Sue, his loving wife of fifty-eight years; his son Steve (Debbie) of Dayton, Ohio and his son Bob (Kathy) of St. Marys, Ohio along with five grandchildren, namely Bobby, Spencer, Trevor, Emilio, and Ophelia.  Vern’s brother, Robert, his only sibling, passed away years ago due to a hunting accident and his parents are also deceased.

Vern was a graduate of Wright State University majoring in computer science.  During his professional career, he was the President of Dayton General Systems and more recently did contract work for both Honda of America and Set and Reset Services (SARS).

Vern lived on a channel of Grand Lake St. Marys and thoroughly enjoyed the lake’s tranquility.  Vern had a strong love for animals and was very devoted to the pets that he rescued. He was into sailing, flying drones, and most recently playing with his new 3-D printer that he had assembled. Vern was a ham radio operator (WA8BAX), private pilot and likewise held a commercial instructor’s license.  He was in the United States Air Force and retired in 1976 after twenty years of service. He was a long-standing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1291 and the Celina Moose. He was known to have a quaint and dry sense of humor as well as a gentle heart for helping others less fortunate. Not only was Vern a loving husband and father, he was a very smart man – a man of few words, which in essence spoke volumes.  He will be sadly missed by all who loved him especially by his son Robert, who idolized him and his Basset Hound “Amos.”

As we all know, death is inevitable.  Vern would not want others to mourn for him but instead to rejoice as he moves from an earthly state into a glorious eternal life.  His quiet spirit will be with us into infinity. Vern’s life was a blessing; his memory is a treasure. A “celebration of his life” is in the planning.
