Susan Lee (Bechtol) Eustace, 81, passed on to her heavenly home on April 17, 2026, at The Manor at Greendale in Findlay, Ohio, where she had spent the final year of her life. Susan was born on January 20, 1945, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Kent and Helen (Schlueter) Bechtol of the Village of Florida, Ohio. On March 21, 1978, Susan married Earl S. Eustace, Jr. and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage together until his death on July 10, 2016.
Susan graduated from Florida Local School and later attended Defiance College, University of Maryland, and University of Southern Maine. Her working career started with a salaried position at the Campbell’s Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio. She went on to Civil Service with the U.S. Navy at several locations, including: the Island of Bermuda, our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., and Brunswick, Maine. She concluded her Civil Service as the Manager of Officer Housing in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Susan and Earl later enjoyed camping together in their RV in the Florida Everglades and traveling extensively throughout the Western United States. After their travels, they settled back in Northwest Ohio in 1999 to care for the declining health of her mother, Helen.
Susan is survived by her brother, Lew Bechtol, his son, Lew II “Sonny” Bechtol and his daughter, Laura Bechtol; Susan’s nephew, Timothy Bechtol and his two sons, Jordan Bechtol and Matthew Bechtol; and Susan’s niece, Mary Jane (Robert) Sherburne. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and his wife, Gary (Elnora) Bechtol, and Susan’s husband, Earl.
Her cremated remains will be interred at a later date, following a celebration of life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida United Methodist Church in the Village of Florida, Ohio, Care360 Hospice, or any charity of the donor’s choice.
