Sandra L. Berlet Obituary
Sandra L. Berlet, 83, of New Knoxville, Ohio, passed away at 9:24 p.m. Thursday June 6, 2024, at Otterbein in St. Marys, Ohio, after a brief illness. Sandra was born on March 16, 1941, to Silas and Lola (Howe) Lammers. On January 6, 1961, Sandra married Dale Meckstroth who died tragically in November 1969, in a house fire. On April 3, 1971, Sandra married David L. Berlet, who survives at the residence.
Sandra is survived by her two children:
Daughter Dana D. Meckstroth Brown of Clarksville, Tennessee
Son Dirk D. Meckstroth of New Knoxville, Ohio
She is survived by her two grandchildren:
Granddaughter Tiffany (Jeremy) Dixon of Clarksville, Tennessee
Grandson Dale (Anna) Brown of Clarksville, Tennessee
She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren:
Cora, Wyatt, Titus, and Micah Dixon
Amos, Magnolia, Wren, Goldie, and Axl Brown
She is also survived by:
Sister Karen Wisenborn of Celina, Ohio
Sister Diane (Tom) Fledderjohann of New Knoxville, Ohio
Sister – in – law Marlene Lammers of New Knoxville, Ohio
Brother – in – law and sister – in – law Ned and Ruby Berlet of Wapakoneta, Ohio
Numerous nieces and nephews
Sandra was a 1959 graduate of New Knoxville High School. Sandra retired from Brookside Laboratories in New Knoxville, Ohio, after many years of service. She was a devoted member of New Knoxville Methodist Church where she loved singing in the church choir and knitting baby sweaters for mission work. She was quite a seamstress, enjoyed working in the garden, painting, and working word search puzzles. She also enjoyed bowling and loved visiting with her many friends at trap shoot competitions as she was the biggest follower and cheerleader of her family at these trap shoot competitions. Sandra also loved her many dogs.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Dale Meckstroth. She was also preceded in death by her brother Dennis Lammers, brother – in – law Robert Wisenborn, father – in – law Ferdinand Meckstroth, mother – in – law Jennie Meckstroth, brother – in – law Roland Meckstroth, sister – in – law Wilma Meckstroth, brother – in – law Marvin Schuller, sister – in – law Lois Schuller, brother – in – law Casper Hoelscher, and sister – in – law Rachel Hoelscher.
Visitation will take place on Thursday June 13, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Miller Long and Folk Funeral Home on 314 West High Street in St. Marys. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 14, 2024, at Miller Long and Folk Funeral Home on 314 West High Street in St. Marys with the Reverend Dennis Gaertner, officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandra’s memory can be directed to either New Knoxville Methodist Church or Midwest Mission.
