Obituary
Sallie Fairchild, 84, of Saint Marys, died 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at her residence.
She was born January 18, 1939, in Mousie, Kentucky, the daughter of Troy and Biddie (Wicker) Chaffins.
She is survived by her daughters: Robin Dempsey of Greenville, South Carolina; Valerie (Anthony) Long of Saint Marys; by her four step-children: Gary Fairchild; Jeannie Swob; Elizabeth Schaffner; Gordon Fairchild. She is survived by her 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and by a brother, Ballard (Bonnie) Chaffins of Saint Marys.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings James Chaffins, Mirtlee Johnson, Kelly Chaffins, Richard Chaffins, Coy Chaffins, Leo Chaffins, Lucille Chaffins; Cora Chaffins Fields, Lora Collins, Paris Chaffins; Dora Lewis.
Sallie was a graduate of Hindman High School in Hindman, Kentucky, and she retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys, after 32 years of service.
She enjoyed doing latch hook needle work. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral rites will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, Pastor Jerry Campbell, officiant.
