Rogene “Genie” Evers, 92, of Saint Marys, died 10:45 A.M. Monday, January 10, 2022, at her residence.
She was born June 14, 1929, in St. Henry, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Alvina (Fischer) Thieman.
She married Paul Evers on October 30, 1954, in St. Henry, Ohio, and he survives.
She is also survived by her children: Sharon (Richard) Kipfer of West Chester, Ohio; Linda (Michael) Gossard of Saint Marys; Dr. Janet (Stephen) Goodwin of Sparta, New Jersey.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Ian Goodwin of Spring, Texas; Shannon Goodwin of Hoboken, New Jersey; Luke Gossard of Saint Marys.
She is survived by her brothers, Theodore (Marilyn) Thieman of Ave Maria, Florida; Daniel (Linda) Thieman of St. Henry. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Martha Thieman of Coldwater; Sally Thieman of Minster; by Paul’s sisters: Joan Wenning of Saint Marys; Eileen Delzeith of Coldwater; by Paul’s sister-in-law, Mary Evers of Fort Recovery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brothers: Earl Thieman; Cletus Thieman; her sisters, Barbara Hoying and Joann Drescher.
Genie was a 1947 graduate of St. Henry High School. She retired from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital after 34 years of service, where she served as Director of Radiology.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Altar Sodality of the Church and the Legion Of Mary. She had served on the church building committee and was a communion distributor at the hospital for more than 20 years.
Genie and Paul loved to travel, and had visited 75 foreign countries. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling to Canada to fish, and playing euchre and bridge. She also liked doing needlepoint and crochet work.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Reverend Alexander Witt, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-7 P.M. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be directed to either Holy Rosary Catholic Church or The Legion of Mary.
Genie’s family requests that all visitors wear a mask to try and keep everyone safe.
