Robert W. Grimes, 78, of New Knoxville, died 7:25 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Vancrest of Saint Marys.
He was born February 8, 1945, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Dale and Evelyn (Harmeyer) Grimes, Sr.
He married Judith Schrolucke on September 6, 1964, and she preceded Bob in death on October 25, 2010.
He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Donovan of Florida; Tanya (Scott) Temple of Saint Marys.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler Donovan; Taylor (Hunter) Alexander; Trey Donovan; Trent Donovan; Troy Donovan; Tiana Donovan; Grant Temple; Hayden Temple. He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Everest of Wapak; Pam (Jerry) Ausland of Celina; Dean (Mona) Grimes of Clarksville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Judy; by his brother, Dale Grimes, Jr.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of New Knoxville High School, and a 1967 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He was an industrial arts teacher in Beavercreek and New Bremen Public Schools, and was a part-owner of New Knoxville Supply Company from 1971-1985. He also was a mechanical estimator for Tilton Corp. in Lima; Frost and Co. in Wapakoneta; McLean Mechanical, Wapakoneta; and Midwest Metal Fabricators in Wapakoneta. He later worked part-time at Western Ohio True Value Hardware in Minster.
Bob was a very active and vital member of the First Church of New Knoxville, where he had served in the choir, ran the sound board, was a member of the Ministry Center Building Committee, and held the positions of Sunday School Superintendent; Deacon, Elder, Trustee and President of the congregation. He was always willing to help with any project at the church. He designed and built the ramp on the church. He was also a past member of the Beavercreek and Saint Marys Jaycees and New Knoxville Kiwanis.
Bob also enjoyed making all types of wood projects in his home shop.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial rites will be held at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Thursday in the Prayer Room of the First Church of New Knoxville, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church or to Grand Lake Hospice.
