Preston Andrew Deerhake, 20, of New Knoxville, Ohio, died suddenly on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his residence.
He was born September 3, 2003, in Saint Marys, the son of Jade Deerhake and David Starr.
He is survived by his mother, Jade Deerhake of New Knoxville; by his father, David Starr of Botkins; by his grandfather, Todd Deerhake of New Knoxville; by his great-grandparents, Bob and Sandra Deerhake of New Knoxville. He is also survived by his siblings: Gunar Starr and Daisy Starr. He is also survived by his grandparents: Tamela (Rodney) Fetters of Van Wert; by his great-grandparents: Linda and Steven Schroer of New Bremen; Delores and William Starr of Montezuma.
Preston was a 2022 graduate of New Knoxville High School. He was employed at NK Parts in Anna, and had been accepted to OSU. He planned to train as a drug dependency counselor. He loved riding dirt bikes and taking care of his BMW; listening to music and riding the roller coasters at Kings Island. He enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bulls and also watching horror movies with his Mom. He had a great personality and loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered for his kind, loving heart. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the First Church of New Knoxville, where he was a lifelong member.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held on the family plot at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to call from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday at the First Church of New Knoxville, where Preston’s family requests that memorial gifts be made to any non-profit drug addiction clinic of your choice. Preston’s family would also like to encourage everyone who attends to please wear a beanie if you like, to honor Preston’s favorite style.
Preston’s funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring Street, New Knoxville. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
