OBITUARY
Paul E. Shreffler, 73, formerly of Sidney, OH died 6:18 a.m. Thursday February 1, 2024 at Vancrest of St. Marys.
He was born May 16, 1950 in Akon, OH to Robert M.A. and Uhla J. (Snyder) Shreffler.
Survivors include: brother The Rev. Ronald (The Rev. Laura) Shreffler of Georgetown, OH
niece Rebecca (Christian) Babyak of Murfreesboro, TN
great-niece Seraphina Babyak
several cousins
Preceded in death by his parents.
He was a graduate of Kenmore High School in Akron (Class of 1968). He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron in 1972.
He retired from Monarch STAMCO in New Bremen, OH, where he was a design engineer for 40 years. Earlier in his career, he had also worked as a mechanical engineer in Alliance and Tiffin, OH.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Blessed with a good singing voice, he participated in the church choir for most of his life. Fascinated with railroads, he devoted much time to the study of trains in America and also collected HO scale railroad memorabilia.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday February 8, 2024 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church 120 W. Water Street in Sidney, OH. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. The Rev. Steven Edmiston will officiate the services.
Burial will take place in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Arnheim, OH at 12:00 noon on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Grand Lake Hospice or any charity of the donor’s choice..
