Patricia Louise (Pickering) Atkinson

OBITUARY

Patricia Louise Atkinson, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday May 9, 2024, at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Community.

She was born May 6th,1934 in Sidney Ohio to Ory and Edith (Carity) Pickering.

She married Gilbert L Atkinson on Oct 12th, 1957, in Troy Ohio who preceded her in death on December 8, 2013.

Pat is survived by her children, Greg (Bonnie) Atkinson of Wapakoneta Ohio; Tim (Carol) Atkinson of Sunbury Ohio; Andrea Fullenkamp of New Knoxville, Ohio; Jennifer (Daniel) Tucker of Wapakoneta Ohio. She is survived by seven grandchildren; Jarin (Kendall) Fullenkamp; Natasha (Joel) Keiffer; Walter Tucker; Jalen Fullenkamp; Heather Atkinson; Clayton Atkinson and Joah Fullenkamp; by four great grandchildren; August and Lennix Keiffer; Kinley and Lillian Fullenkamp. She is also survived by a sister Anna (David) Schlechty of Staunton VA and one niece and one nephew both of Virginia

Pat was a graduate of Troy High School in 1952 where she was a member of the band. She graduated and received her State Board for Nursing from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton August 26, 1955.  After a long career in the nursing field, she took her nursing skills and experience and volunteered at the nurse's clinic at Otterbein of St Marys.

Pat was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta where she was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher, various committees and held various board positions. Also was part of community organizations such as The Auglaize County Extension Programs and Friendly Homemakers.

Pat enjoyed traveling, crocheting, working in her flower beds and watching birds.

Private family funeral rites will be held at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St Marys, Ohio on Tuesday May 21, 2024. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery near Covington, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Hospice of Auglaize County or Salem United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, OH.
