Norma Ebbing Obituary

(Norma) Jane Ebbing, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in St. Marys, Ohio. She was born on April 11, 1941, to Braum and Ruth (Heisler) Miner in Plymouth, Indiana.

Jane is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Ebbing; stepdaughter, Jari Lapp (Corbin, Ky) and her friend and ‘Kid’ Patty Jenkins (Spencerville, Ohio). 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous loving friends she included in her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-daughter, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Jane graduated from Etna Green High School where she was Class Vice-President and gave the Valedictory Address. Jane went on to enjoy her working career in the banking industry and with Weight Watchers. In 1973, Tom and Jane were married in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In 1993, they built their dream home in Albion,Ind., “Peace Tree Ridge”, nestled on twenty acres with woods and a beautiful pond. Friends gathered regularly for good coffee, lively conversations, drum circles and teachings. Jane and Tom enjoyed over 30 years on their homestead before retiring to St. Marys, Ohio.

To know Jane was to love her! Jane enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, cooking/baking, birding, being a member of the National Audubon Society and attending/dancing at PowWows. She was always up for a good time, interested in whatever people had to share with her and full of sage advice. Laughter, smiles and giggles were part of her daily life! Jane’s huge heart was filled with generosity and time for others.

For over 70 years, she was an avid crochet artist designing and donating thousands of handcrafted hats to those in need. Rarely was Jane without a crochet hook in her hand and took yarn everywhere she went.

A private celebration of Jane’s life will be held on a future date.

Jane was so appreciative of the care she received in hospice she requested memorials be made to your local hospice services.
