Michele Brockert, 51, of Elida, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at her residence, when a vehicle lost control and hit her home.
She was born December 18, 1968, in Lima, the daughter of Eldon and Sue (Purdy) Bowman.
She married Jon Brockert on June 18, 1989, in Lima; he also died in the accident at their home on Wednesday.
She is survived by her parents, Eldon and Sue (Purdy) Bowman of Lima; by her children: Aaron Brockert of Elida; David Brockert of Elida; Kristina Brockert of Ottawa. She is survived by her brother, Brian (Deb) Bowman of Manistee, Michigan. She is survived by her nephews, Samuel and Wolf Bowman.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James Brockert.
Michele was a graduate of Temple Christian High School in Lima. She spent many years homeschooling their children and served as a homeschool group leader, and volunteering at various church activities. She was employed at WTLW Channel 44, in Lima, where she was a receptionist. She was on the Board of Unreign Ministry. She enjoyed reading and working outdoors. She enjoyed mentoring young women.
Michele and Jon dedicated their lives to taking care of their family and doing mission work to spread the good news of Christ throughout the world. They traveled to Germany, Nepal, and Granada numerous times to teach about the love of Jesus.
A celebration of life for Michele and Jon Brockert will be held 5:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima, Pastor Mark Bayliff, officiant.
An open house will be held at the church from 2-5 P.M. on Thursday. All visitors to the church are required by the mandates of the Ohio Department of Health to wear a mask.
