Michael R. Otto II, age 59, passed away on January 3, 2026, at his home in Cairo, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on August 22, 1966, in Ottawa, Ohio.
Michael lived life with strong opinions, a generous heart, and a willingness to teach anyone how to do things the “Mike way.” He enjoyed watching westerns, trap shooting, fishing, OSU Buckeye football, and riding his motorcycle. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
Michael was a proud member of the Leipsic Rod and Gun Club.
Michael was a valued employee of local farmer and business owner Larry Bonifas, where he focused on construction and specialized in the installation and service of Propel Sliding Door Automation. He took great pride in his work and was well known for his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his “better half”, as Mike often said, Patty Edwards; his son, Alex Tapia of Ottawa; his daughter, ; his stepsons, Chris (Natalie) Smith, Darren (Richelle) Smith, and Trey (Hannah) Smith, all of Lima; his beloved grandchildren, Donavon, Wyatt, Benjamin, Willow, Madeleine, and Ezra; and his siblings, Catherine Kurek, Karen Maas, and Craig Otto.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Leah Otto; his father, Michael Otto Sr.; his daughter, Ashley Otto; and his loyal companion and man’s best friend, Baby.
In accordance with Michael’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Michael will be remembered for his strong presence, his love for family, and the many lessons he shared
with those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
