In Loving Memory of Michael Earl Hunter

Michael Earl Hunter, born on August 26, 1961, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 17, 2024, at 5:15 am in Alpharetta, GA, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Kathleen Marie Hunter, and children: Jessica Marlin Zambrano (Gustavo) of Wilmington, NC, Jackson Michael Hunter, and Lucas Earl Hunter who live with their mom in Alpharetta, GA. He was a loving grandfather to Jessica & Gustavo's children - Alana, Jason, Gavin, and Abraham Zambrano all from Wilmington, NC.

He is also survived by his mother, Karen Harvey of Alpharetta, GA, father Earl Hunter, and stepmother Patricia Hunter. In addition, two brothers, Stephen Hunter (Kathleen) and Douglas Hunter (Lisa) all from Jacksonville, FL, as well as his mother-in-law, Margaret (Kathy) Storer, two brothers-in-law, John Storer (Juli) and Larry Storer (Rachel) all from St Marys, Ohio, alongside numerous extended family members and friends all across the country.

 

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Harvey, and his father-in-law, Larry Storer I, and brother-in-law, William Storer

Michael was born in Jacksonville, FL, and grew up in Charlotte, NC. After High School (1980), he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 8 years. He lived in Georgia for the last 30 years where he met his wife Kathleen and lived with their two sons and 3 dogs Chloe, Bailey & Lucy. Michael was a true lighting professional at Roger's Electric where he was the Director of Lighting and excelled in his field. He was well respected by his colleagues for his expertise, dedication, and willingness to help others. His leadership was admired, and his guidance was valued by all who had the privilege of working with him.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Michael found joy in simple pleasures, from watching his sons play baseball, football, and lacrosse to camping, fishing, cooking, watching movies, and reading. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach with his family. He was also known as Coach Mike for baseball and Mr. Mike as a Cubmaster and Den leader in Boy Scouts. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and daughter.

 

A Celebration of Michael's life will be held on June 8, 2024, from 2 - 5 pm at Black Diamond Grill.

 

Though Michael may have left this world, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

 

Rest in peace, Michael Earl Hunter. We love you!
