Mary Jo (Windom) Salter

Mary Jo Salter, 97, of St. Marys, OH died March 26, 2021 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born August 11, 1923 in Westerville, OH to Irvin and Sara (Wilson) Windom.

On September 3, 1943 in Westerville, OH she married Bill Salter, who died May 5, 2016.

Survivors include:  daughter Carol (Tyler) Cassedy of Port Orchard, WA

                               grandson Robert (Lorin) Cassedy of Barcelona, Spain

                               granddaughter Lisa Cassedy of Alameda, CA

                               2 great-grandchildren: Nicolas and Alina Cassedy

Preceded in death by: parents Irvin and Sara Windom; husband Bill Salter; son Stephen Salter; daughter Jerrie Anne Salter; sister Betty Setty

She earned a bachelor's degree in science and mathematics from Otterbein College.

She worked at the Westerville Public Library for a number of years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance agency in Sunbury, OH. During World War II, she assisted in the war effort by inserting fuses into hand grenades.

Her favorite pastimes included reading, knitting, walking and participating in the aquacise class at the Otterbein swimming pool.         

Private family services will be held. Burial, alongside her husband, will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Memorial contributions may be directed to either Otterbein -- St. marys or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
