Mary Alice McDermitt, 91, of Saint Marys, died 4:49 A.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Gardens of St. Henry.
She was born September 8, 1932, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Oliver and Clara (Houser) Ruwoldt.
She married Donald McDermitt on October 9, 1954, at the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, and Don preceded her in death on March 6, 2014.
She is survived by her sons: Steve (Bert) McDermitt of New Bremen; Eric (Nancy) McDermitt of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren:Andrew McDermitt of Fort Wayne;Douglas (Angela) McDermitt of Centerville, Ohio; Matthew (Tessa) McDermitt of Minster; Greg (April) McDermitt of Loveland, Ohio; Katie (Matt) Blandford of Indianapolis; Julie (Ean) Howard of Silver Lake, Indiana. She is also survived by her 11 great-grandchildren, and by her sister-in-law, Shirley Ruwoldt of Wapakoneta and her niece, Lori Ruwoldt of Wapakoneta; by her sister-in-law Sue Schnelle of Saint Marys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by her siblings Betty Monroe and Leonard Ruwoldt.
Mary Alice was a 1950 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She retired as the Deputy Tax Commissioner for the City Of Saint Marys. She previously worked in Administration at Wright State University Lake Campus and served as the office manager of Harmeyer Accounting.
She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, talking with family and friends, and she had traveled extensively. She was a member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen.
Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, Pastor Trent Fledderjohann, officiant. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church, where memorial gifts may be given to either Faith Alliance Church or Everheart Hospice.
