Margaret "Peggy" Seward-Miles Obituary

Margaret Lee “Peggy” Seward Miles

Our beloved Peggy passed away peacefully following a seven day illness in Grand Lake Hospice in St. Marys, OH on Saturday December 13, 2025.

She left a legacy of joy and happiness among her family and wonderful friends at Otterbein Senior Living Community at Grand Lake St. Marys, OH, where she lived for almost 20 years – active and independent the entire time. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved her, and she is one of the last of the truly “Greatest Generation.”

Peggy was born August 1, 1924 in Petersburg, VA. At the age of sixteen, her family moved to Marion , VA where she graduated from high school and attended Marion College.

Peggy met her future husband, George (also, of Marion), and they were married in Christ Episcopal Church on June 28, 1942.

Above all things, Peggy loved her family and friends with all of her heart. Her devotion to others inspired her to create a legacy of beautiful watercolor paintings, portraits, ceramics, quilts and dolls. Following her completion of a course of study at Penn State University, she created prize-winning Persian prayer rugs. Other pastimes included golfing, organic gardening and flower arranging.

She served on the Altar Guild at Christ Episcopal Church and made floral arrangements for Marion Hospital and for residents of Otterbein.

Following a brief stint as a secretary, she became a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Peggy was a proud member of the Royal Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include:

Daughter Margaret (Robert) Schoenherr of Verona, VA

Daughter Alice Kevan (William Lee Davis III) Miles-Davis of Lakeview, OH

Grandchildren: William Lee (Manli Yang-Davis) Davis IV, Robert Miles Davis, Andrew (Mary) Miles Davis

Great-grandchildren: Emily Davis, Susannah Davis

Preceded in death by:

Parents Charles Baldwin and Helen Randolph (Kevan) Seward; husband George Holland Miles; sister Helen Seward Dallen; brother Charles Randolph Seward
