Kathryn Elizabeth Todd, 92, born on July 20, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN, to Frank and Ella (Dahlberg) Olson, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in St. Marys, OH. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else.
Kathryn was married to Donald Todd on April 24, 1953, and together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. They were married for 56 years until his death in 2009. She is survived by her son Craig Todd, daughters Donna (David) Graham, Cheryl Todd, and Tracy Todd, as well as her granddaughters Megan (Josh) Wolfe and Krista Hromish, and her great-grandson Wade. Kathryn also leaves behind her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and LuAnn Todd, sister-in-law Mila Todd, a special friend David Sell, and her ever faithful companion, Ollie.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Gladys (Floyd) Chapel, Walt (Marilyn) Olson, and Caroline (Roger) McHugh and by Donald's siblings Gwen (Ed) Polka, Frank (Joan) Todd, Clifford (Mary) Todd, Pat (Richard) Hartman, and Denny Todd.
Throughout her life, Kathryn enjoyed many hobbies, including quilting, knitting, sewing, playing cards, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. She found joy in spending time at the lake during her youth, and Florida and Iowa both held a special place in her heart, where she made many cherished friends. Kathryn loved to keep up with her family through Facebook and texts, eagerly awaiting photos from her nieces and nephews.
Her career included roles as a bookkeeper at various banks, a crossing guard, and a lunchroom and recess attendant while her children were in school. She was also dedicated to her community, volunteering at the local hospital and blood bank, and working long hours at the elections. In her later years, she found fulfillment working at a used bookstore.
Kathryn's warm spirit and deep love for her family will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to make a donation to Alzheimer's research, your local animal shelter, or any charity of your choice.
Kathryn will be laid to rest alongside the love of her life in the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.
