Joy Cooper Obituary

Joy Ann Cooper, 95, of Lima, formerly of Saginaw MI., passed away on March 5, 2026, at 10:46
am, at Lost Creek Care Center. She was born on February 1, 1931, in Saginaw, MI to Glenn and
Erma (Almy) Witherell. She was married to Robert Green, and they were divorced. She then
was married to Lloyd Cooper on June30,1960 and he passed away on December 15, 2021.

Joy and Lloyd were quite the pair! She loved “bossing” Lloyd around and they had a wonderful
relationship. She enjoyed playing cards, travel, reading the Bible, fishing in Lake Michigan and
enjoying boating and all the things that can be done on the water. She was a wonderful lady,
and her home was a stopover for her boys and grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, knitting,
made Hallmark cards on her computer, and sent 95 of them out last Christmas (2025), really
enjoyed eating too, especially KFC, and fried bologna sandwiches, always with an ice cold Coke!
She could out- eat most people her age, so to speak, Joy had a robust appetite.

When she was at Swan Haven, she enjoyed delivering the “mail” which was notices and letters
from the home to it’s residents. Her Golden Retrievers were her fur babies and she just adored
them.

Joy is survived by two sons; Tom Green, of Norwalk, Oh and Roy Green of Lima. Her
grandchildren are Karen(Tim) Ritter, Jennifer (Aron) Green, Christine (Mike) Strehle, Robert
“Bobby” Green. Joy had several great grandchildren; Kirk, Kingston, Paige, Alexzander, Morgan,
Tanner, Jackson, Bailey, Gary, and River. She had one surviving sibling, a brother in law, Robert
Cooper, also a former daughter in law; Gaynelle(Farmer) Green. She was preceded in death by
her stepsons; Lloyd Cooper III, Thomas Cooper, and Daniel Cooper: her sister in law; Susan
Cooper, brother Bobby Dean (Mary) Witherell and her daughter in law; Joyce Green. One of her
favorite people was “Nurse Nancy.” Joy will be truly missed and loved by her family and friends.

Joy and Lloyd both were cremated and their cremated remains will be interred at a later date,
at the convenience of the family. Miller Funeral Home in St. Mary’s is honored to be taking
care of Joy’s arrangements.
