Joseph Harold Lunsford

On March 27, 2022  Joseph Harold Lunsford entered his eternal rest.  He was born May 21, 1936 in

Covington County, Alabama to J.C. and Lettie V. Lunsford.  He graduated from Chumuckla  High School in 1954 where he served as center for the boys’ baseball team for 2 trips to state tournaments .  He attended Asbury University in Wilmore, KY and

Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL where he earned his BS degree.  He then taught 7th grade

subjects in Botkins, OH for 3 years before moving to the St. Marys school system teaching math and

drivers’ training for the rest of his career.  He also served as interim pastor in Methodist and Friends churches in Alabama and Ohio.  He loved

woodworking and traveling.  The family traveled and camped in all 50 states including Alaska and

Hawaii.  He has also traveled to several foreign countries and Antarctica.

He married Barbara Lehman on June 5, 1956 and they had 4 children – Duane, Sherri, Wayne and

Rebecca – 7 grandchildren and 6 great

grandchildren.  He is survived by brothers Ralph, Virgil, Ferren and Wayne Lunsford and sister Nell Porter.

Having had a 14 year illness, he is now full of joy with Jesus, family and other acquaintances.
