John (Jack) Lee Trentman, 79, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina died on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at his home due to heart complications.
He was born November 21, 1946 in Lima, Ohio to Elmer F. and Germaine (Kroeger) Trentman. On April 24, 1971 he married the love of his life Susan A. Harner (who survives) at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, Ohio. Jack and Sue are current members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in High Point, North Carolina.
Also survived by: daughter Shelley Petrasek (Ryan) of Florida, son Mark Trentman (Mimi) of Hawaii and Sara Lewis (Jason) of Ohio. Four Grandchildren: Lila and Amelia Petrasek, Nicholas Lewis, and George Trentman. Sister Bette (John) Prater of Ohio, brother Joe (Alice) Trentman of Indiana, Sister in-law Linda (Allan deceased) Finke of Florida, brother in-law Larry (Dee) Harner of Tennessee and brother in-law Dan Harner of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Ralph and Betty (Picker) Harner.
He was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School Class of 1965 and a 1969 graduate from the University of Dayton with Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jack had a successful and enjoyable career as a mechanical engineer. Holding several US Patents and working until he retired on September 8, 2017 at the age of 70.
Jack enjoyed family vacations and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his trips with Sue to Utah.
Jack was passionate about classic cars, owning many throughout his life. He was also an avid gardener who enjoyed growing and collecting tropical plants. After retirement he discovered model ship building and completed 5 intricate, museum-quality model ships.
Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, amazing Dad and the best Grandpa ever. It was Jack's request to be cremated. A private service and burial at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery will be held in Saint Marys, Ohio at a later date.
