Joanne Ginter, 88, of Saint Marys, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in Saint Marys.
She was born May 5, 1933, in Winchester, Indiana, the daughter of Tarleton “T.B.” and Virginia (Stormes) Davis, Sr.
She married Ronald Ginter on October 17, 1953, in Winchester, Indiana; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2014.
She is survived by her children: Ronald (Nadine) Ginter of Celebration, Florida; Jeffrey (Geri) Ginter of Brookville, Ohio; Joe (Kelly) Ginter of Saint Marys; Jane Stewart of Elkhart, Indiana.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Scott Ginter; Megan Ginter; Candace Long; Kylie (Ryan) Ingole; Quinn Ginter; by a great-granddaughter, Olivia Long. She is survived by her brother, Junior (Sharon) Davis of Bluffton; her sister, Jeanne ((Art) Smucker of Sun City, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ron; by her brothers: James Davis and Jack Davis.
Joanne was a 1951 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She worked at Moran’s Refrigeration for many years, and was the co-founder of the Saint Marys Youth Center. She was very active at Wayne Street United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 70 years. She also taught Sunday School and made funeral dinners for many years at the church. She had served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 36, and was on the board of Agape Ministries in Saint Marys.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Tim Benjamin, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Friends of the Saint Marys Theater and Grand Opera House.
