Jerry Elmer Hoelscher, aged 81, passed away on February 12, 2025, on his beloved
century farm where he grew up outside of New Knoxville, Ohio. He was born on
November 5, 1943, to Elmer E. and Martha M. (Lammers) Hoelscher. He was a 1961
graduate of New Knoxville High School and married Geneva “Judy” (Routt) Hoelscher
on March 4,1967, in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Jerry was a farmer and owned and operated agricultural chemical and seed businesses.
He was a lifelong member of First Church in New Knoxville, where he was confirmed on
April 14, 1957. He was a fan of Ohio State football, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and New
Knoxville High School basketball. Tennessee was his favorite vacation destination, and
he especially enjoyed taking his family there. Over the years, he attended many
sporting and school events for his grandchildren and, more recently, he loved
introducing his great-grandchildren to farm life.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Marsha J. (Hoelscher)
Hayes. He is survived by his daughters, Shannon (Shawn) Spencer and Dionna
(James) Chambers, his grandchildren, Chloe (Douglas) Tascoff, Samuel Spencer, Lydia
