Janet Louise Keller, 90, of Saint Marys, died 12:05 A.M. Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 19, 1934, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Guy and Amanda (Kettler) Hainline.
On June 26, 1954, she married Robert Keller at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2016.
She is survived by a brother, David Hainline of Saint Marys; by her children: Chris (Gloria) Keller of Saint Marys; Tom (Valerie) Keller of Galveston, Indiana; Amy Keller of Saint Marys; Kathy (Gregg) Dieringer of Saint Marys; Nancy (A.J.) Stabelli of Saint Marys.
She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Jenni (Benni) Hilliard; Rick Whitaker; Mike (Jenni) Whitaker; Liz Even-Ezra; Jean (Jamie) Hager; Guy (Yvonne) Keller; Scott (Emily) Dieringer; Mark (Amy) Dieringer; Samantha (Jason) Solomon; Nick (Chelssie) Stabelli.
She is survived by her 25 great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Luke) Landis; David Whitaker; Jacob, Chase and Madison Whitaker; Sam Hilliard; Aden, Toby, and Leahn Even-Ezra; Jubilee, Justice and Jovie Hager; Elliot and James Keller; Rilynn and Harper Dieringer; Nickales, Kali, Rylee and Mia Dieringer; Zane and Kyler Solomon; Samuel Kirtley; Landon and Alex Stabelli; by her five great-great-grandchildren: Max, Adeline, Liam, Ava and Alivia Landis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Louise Ann Hainline and Joann Wendel.
Janet was a 1952 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School and earned a Lab Technician degree from Elkhart University of Medicine, Elkhart, Indiana. She worked for doctors in Saint Marys until starting her family. In later years, she was a rug weaver, owning several antique looms and sold rugs at Saint Marys Hobby Center and Trading Company. She made so many friends in those years and was known for making each person she met feel better in their life’s journey after meeting her.
Janet was a lifelong member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, having six generations of her family baptized there. She was a Sunday School and Confirmation teacher, Women’s Guild member and served on many committees.
Janet had an unwavering love for her family and she lived each day to the fullest, sharing her strong faith through encouraging words and love for everyone she encountered.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys. Private family burial rites will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ Organ Fund or Grand Lake Hospice. Friends may also call from 9-11 A.M. on Friday at the church.
