James "Mabe" Dieringer Obituary

James F. ”Mabe” Dieringer, 87, of Saint Marys, died 1:07 A.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community.

He was born January 15, 1938, in Saint Marys, the son of Frank and Minnie (Wieser) Dieringer.

He married Beverly Rickner on May 29, 1965, in Portland, Indiana, and she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his two children: Angie Dieringer of Dublin, Ohio and Jeff (Sara) Dieringer of Saint Marys. He is survived by his three grandchildren: Kendall Dieringer, A.J. Dieringer and Avery Dieringer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his sister, Sr. Patricia Dieringer, C.P.P.S. of Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his siblings: Rose Agnes (Tootie) Ziegenfelder, Bill Dieringer, Bob Dieringer and Larry Dieringer.

Jim was a 1956 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School and a veteran of the US Army. He attended Wright State University.

He retired from Celina Insurance Group, where he served as an insurance underwriter for many years. He then worked as an insurance agent at Leugers Insurance Agency.

Jim was a very active member of American Legion Post 323. He volunteered many years as a Buckeye Boys State Commissioner and was elected to serve as President of the annual event. He spent his entire life loving the game of baseball. He spent hundreds of hours coaching all levels of teams in St, Marys from Tee Ball to American Legion. After he retired from coaching, he spent many days working on the baseball fields at K.C. Geiger Park, making sure they were in top shape for that day’s games. He was also part of the original committee that planned and built K.C. Geiger Park and served on the St. Marys City Council in the early 1990s. He loved doing yard work and spending precious time with his grandchildren.

Funeral rites will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Bob Sweeney, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2025 and one hour before the service on Saturday. Memorial donations may be given to either the Saint Marys Baseball Association or Grand Lake Hospice.
