OBITUARY
James Eddie Caldwell, 75, of Dayton, OH, died 3:04 p.m. Wednesday July 2, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in rural Darke Co., OH.
He was born November 14, 1949 in Champaign Co., OH to George Samuel and Mary Evelyn (Overfield) Caldwell.
Survivors include:
Daughter Diane (Richard) Liles
Daughter Iona (Donald) Lockwood
Daughter Marilyn (John) Moffett
Daughter Kelly (Keith Zimmerman) Heart
6 grandchildren: Richie Liles, Ashley (Kacey) Knotts, Emily (Dustin) Fuehrer, Mary Lockwood, Georgia Lockwood, Thomas Lockwood
4 great-grandchildren
Sister-in-law Freeda Foose Caldwell
Numerous nieces and nephews
Many individual who called him "Dad”
Preceded in death by: parents George and Mary Caldwell; brother Jesse Thomas Caldwell; brother Robert Caldwell
He was a graduate of the former Buckeye Local High School in Rushylvania, OH (Class of 1967).
A long-time truck driver, he worked for Manfredi Trucking Co. for a number of years. He then worked as a dispatcher for Carl S. Akey Feeds (now, Cargill, Inc.) and eventually worked in logistical support for Trans Alliance Trucking Co. in Greenville, OH.
A man active in his faith, he provided Epiphany Prison Ministries, helping numerous incarcerated individuals throughout the years. In addition, he was inspired to participate in an Emmaus Walk in January of 1997.
Eddie was a long-time fan of the bull-riding circuit and served as a rodeo judge for years at the M & M Mack Arena in Wabash, OH. He was honored to serve as a judge for the 1998 Finals of the Mid-State Rodeo Association in Canton, OH.
A public memorial service will be scheduled and announced in the near future.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller Bros Funeral Directors in St. Marys, OH.
