J. "Manny" M. Atienzo

OBITUARY

Jose Manuel “Manny” Atienzo, 67, of St. Marys, OH died 12:10 a.m. Wednesday October 9, 2024 at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born March 22, 1957 in El Paso, TX to Mariano and Christina (Velasquez) Atienzo.

On March 28, 2011 in Portland, IN he married Jessica Weile-Grummert, who survives.

Also survived by: children: Esmerelda, Isela and Susie Atienzo of Texas; Hannah and Joseph Atienzo of Indiana; Amanda Boomershine, Matthew and Zachary Grummert of Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren (including 2 whom he raised: Blayse and Zoie Boomershine); brother Mario Atienzo; sister Syldain (Ulises Ayala) Atienzo; sister Sonia (Jennifer) Atienzo-Fisher

Deceased family members include: parents Mariano (10/12/24) and Christina Atienzo; brother Jose Luis Atienzo; sister Luciana Atienzo; sister Cecelia Ochoa

Manny was employed in the shipping department of Sunset Greenhouses in Wapakoneta, OH. Prior to that, he worked as a contractor for many years.

His favorite pastimes included building wooden tables and working in his vegetable garden. In addition, he created and sold countless traditional pinatas for festive occasions.

Rites are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.

Visitation 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
