Garry Martin Hittepole

Garry M. Hittepole, 78, of Saint Marys, and a long time resident of St. Johns, Ohio, died 9:45 P.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at his residence.

He was born January 8, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Glenn and Ethel (Dudgeon) Hittlepole.

He married Robethel “Becky” Webb on July 20, 1963, in New Hampshire, Ohio, and she survives at the residence.

He is survived by his children:Gary (Kim Eversman) Hittepole of Saint Marys; Brian (Vanessa) Hittepole of Saint Marys; Carmen (Edmund) Daniel of Saint Marys. He is survived by his grandchildren: Brianna Kesler; Nicholas Hittepole; Taylor Hitttepole; Tori Hittepole; Gabriel Hittepole; Gavin Hitttepole; Chanda Hittepole; Candon Hittepole; Cori Hittepole; Stacy Schoen; Zachary Daniel; Tyler Daniel; Cody Daniel. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is survived by two sisters, Marilyn and Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a grandson, Edmund Daniel, Jr.; by his siblings: Virginia Uppenkamp; Janet Copeland; Larry Hittepole.

Garry retired from Scot Lad Foods. He was the longtime Assistant Fire Chief of the St. Johns Volunteer Fire Department, which was his real passion. He loved helping people and was deeply committed to serving the community through the Fire Service. He was a great bowler with an average in the 200’s, and he was an expert horseshoe pitcher, with a 75% ringer average. He took many trips to Canadian lakes with his friends to go fishing, and he got saved at the former St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Marys.

Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Denny Hunter, officiant. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday, and from 12:00 until 1:00 on Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to pay Garry’s final expenses. The family kindly asks all attendees to wear a mask, and condolences may be sent to Garry’s family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
