Doris Evalina Tigner

Doris Evalina Tigner, 90, of Saint Marys, died 1:40 A.M. Friday, January 7, 2022, at Vancrest of Saint Marys. 

She was born February 3, 1931, in Tiffin, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Esther (Wolf) Tigner.

She and her family moved to Saint Marys in 1942, where Doris graduated from Memorial High School in 1948, and would live out the remainder of her life in Saint Marys. She was formerly employed at Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina, retiring after devoting thirty years of work there.

Doris is survived by two cherished sisters, Kathaleen Reese of Larwill, Indiana, and Geraldine “Jerry” Greber of Saint Marys, and was preceded in death by a much loved sister, Janet Paul. 

Also preceding her in death were her parents, as well as three brothers-in-law, Wayne Reese; William Greber, Sr.;Jack Paul.  Doris is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Bill (Lynn) Greber of Celina; Melody Reese of Larwill, Indiana; Teri (Jeff) Phillips of Indianapolis; David Paul of Naples, Florida; Cheryl Paul of Naples; Cynthia (John) Ortiz of Fort Myers, Florida, along with great-nieces and nephews Kelsey and Aaron Baker; Ben Greber; Julia Greber; Stephanie Paul, Ryan Paul, John Ortiz, Jr. and Jackie Ortiz; Lucy Lukes. Her dear friends Becky Ballenger also survives in Saint Marys.

Doris very much enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours working on her Sturgeon Street lawn and landscaping, and took particular pleasure in maintaining her home. In her later years, she delighted in visits with her great-nephew Ben when he took of the lawn care for her. Doris disliked being the center of attention and per her wishes, private family services will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys. Her loving sister, Kathaleen will preside over a time of story telling and prayer. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
