Donald J. Walter, 87, of Saint Marys, died 12:05 A.M. Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born October 6, 1937, in Saint Marys, the son of Joseph and Mary (Naseman) Walter.
He married Barbara DeMoss on February 1, 1958 and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2021.
He is survived by his children: Teri Walter of Columbus, Ohio; Ron (Sue) Walter of Saint Marys; by his grandchildren: Justin, Emily, Samantha; by his great-grandchildren: Levi; Rhett; Chloe; Wesson; Walker and Wayne. He is survived by his siblings: Jerry (Glenda) Walter of Saint Marys; Tom (Mary Jo) Walter of Saint Marys; by his daughter-in-law, Stacy Walter Regedanz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by a son, Charlie Walter.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School, and a veteran of the US Army.
He was the retired owner of D and J Construction.
Don enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Eagles’ Lodge 767 in Saint Marys. He and his family took an annual trip to Rice Lake in Canada for 35 years, and he liked watching the Bengals and Reds. Don was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and will be remembered for being a real family man.
Graveside funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Gethsemane Cemetery, the Reverend Tim Benjamin, officiant.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either Grand Lake Hospice, `1122 East Spring Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, 45885 or the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 West Dussel Drive, Suite, 140, Maumee, Ohio, 43537.
