Dean Paulus Obituary

Dean Michael Paulus, age 63, of St. Marys, passed away on April 7, 2025.  He was born February 21, 1962 to Robert and Ludvina Jacqueline (née Fortman) Paulus, who survive.

A 1981 graduate of Memorial High School, he joined the family business, working at Northmoor Golf as the golf course superintendent.

Dean is survived by his three sons, Drew Paulus, Trent (Sarah) Paulus, and Will Paulus, and his granddaughters, Evelyn and Lorelei Paulus. He is also survived by his sister Lynne (Dennis) Ray, and his brother Bobby Paulus, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is survived by his former wife, Beth Ford, of Harrod.  His in laws, Wally and Erma Winegardner, preceded him in death.

Dean was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing at the St. Marys river and fishing at Grand Lake with his granddaughters.

Dean was a scratch golfer and often played in tournaments with his sons and his golfing friends. He was a five-time club champion at Northmoor and won many tournaments at area golf courses. He shared his love of golf with his sons, and he and his sons were all members of the St. Marys Roughrider golf teams.  He was very proud of his annual participation and contributions to the St. Marys Rider golf camps.

Dean also loved playing in the local poker tournaments held in the area American Legion posts, Eagles Clubs, Moose Lodges and V.F.W. posts.   He was witty, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to socialize and leaves behind a long list of friends, co-workers, muscle car enthusiasts,  golf partners, poker buddies, and the Board Games gang.

Visitation will be from 4 - 8:00  p.m. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys, and on Tuesday 9 - 11:00 a.m. with a service immediately following visitation.   Dean will be interred at Gethsemane Cemetery and a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at Northmoor immediately following the burial.
