David M Gossard

David M. Gossard, 79, of Saint Marys, Ohio, died 11:46 P.M. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at his residence.

He was born July 14, 1944, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Cleve and Anna (Schultz) Gossard.

He married Kathleen Steineman on June 8, 1968, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2012.

He is survived by his children: Brian Gossard of Saint Marys; Carolyn (Douglas) Bader of Saint Marys; Angela Gossard of Saint Marys; Paul (Jerri) Gossard of Saint Marys. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lauren (Seth) Lindo; Morgan Coffey; Evan Bader; Brandon Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; by his brothers, Barry Gossard and Bruce Gossard; his sister, Susan Gossard.

Dave was a 1963 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School, and a veteran of the US Navy. 

He retired from the City of Saint Marys Power Plant, where he was a stationary engineer. Dave was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Father James O. Byrne Council 1592 of the Knights of Columbus. Dave was a 4th Degree Knight, and  had served as Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator and color guard commander. He also sang in the church choir for many years. He had coached the bocce team for Auglaize County Special Olympics and was a member of the Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter with the City of Saint Marys Fire Department.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Father John Tonkin, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Father James Byrne Fund of Knights of Columbus Council 1592.
