Charles "Pete" Sweeney Obituary

Charles “Pete” Sweeney, 82, of Saint Marys, died 1:17 A.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Vancrest of Saint Marys Nursing Home.

He was born March 26, 1939, in Celina, Ohio, the son of John Edward and Mabel (Hooper) Sweeney.

He married Connie Roby on May 28, 1960; she preceded him in death on June 9, 1991.

He married Kay Reece in 1995, and she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his sons: Tom Sweeney of Saint Marys; Robert (Zella) Sweeney of Pippa Passes, Kentucky. He is survived by his six grandchildren and by two brothers: John (Lynn) Sweeney of Mendon; Chris Sweeney of Celina.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Connie; by his brother, Larry Sweeney; and by two brothers in infancy; by his step-daughter Tina Smith.

 

Pete served in the Ohio National Guard and retired from the Lima Tank Plant where he was a crane operator. He was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship in Saint Marys, and he enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. He loved watching the Reds and Indians play baseball.

 

Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys.

Burial rites will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. 

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Evercare Hospice.
