Charles "Bo" Makley

Charles “Bo” Makley, 86, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, died 5:45 P.M. Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 30, 1937, in Saint Marys, the son of John and Gretchen (Zimmerman) Makley.

He married Sharon Peggs on June 6, 1964, and she preceded him in death in 1996.

He is survived by children: Lora (Tony) Poppe of Wapakoneta; Charles (Kim) Makley, Jr. of Saint Marys; by his step-children: Vicki Schnell of Celina; Linda Kohler of Saint Marys; by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Wilma Ginter of Saint Marys; Ila Makley of Saint Marys; Mary Frey of Saint Marys; Carol Richardson of Alabama; Beverly Hunton of Huber Heights, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a step-son, Randy Kohler; by his siblings: Robert Makley; Jack Makley; George Makley; Ruth Makley Betty Henning; by his grandchildren: Charles Makley III; Jack Charles Schnell; Nicholas Kohler; Julie Schnell.

Charles was a 1956 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He served in the Ohio National Guard, and retired from Superior Metals in Wapakoneta. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, dancing, working crossword puzzles and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Most of all, Bo loved spending time with his family.

Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Paul Werling, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:00-1:00 on Thursday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Cancer Association of Auglaize County. Bo’s family requests that everyone dress casually;please wear a shirt of your favorite team.
