Catherine C (Adams) Johns

Catherine C. Johns, 103, of Saint Marys, died 3:50 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2024, at Grande Lake Health Care Center.

She was born November 27, 1920, in Celina, Ohio, the daughter of Willabay and Vernia (McMurray) Adams.

She married John R. Johns on January 25, 1941, in Celina, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1992.

She is survived by her daughters: Janet Gibson of Saint Marys; Jill (Michael) Walter of Fort Recovery; by her son-in-law, Dave Schmehl of Saint Marys. She is also survived by her grandchildren: John (Dorian) Gibson; Donald (Laura) Walter; Joseph (Marcelle) Walter; by her five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and by her siblings Charles Adams of and Marjorie Adam; by her daughter, Jean Schmehl; by her son-in-law, George Gibson.

Catherine was a 1938 graduate of Celina High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, which she had read from cover to cover 5 times. She also volunteered at Agape Ministries in Saint Marys, and in earlier years had been a Girl Scout leader.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Walnut Grove Church, 17519 County Road 66-A, Saint Marys, Pastor Parker Miley, officiant. 

Memorial gifts may be given to either Grand Lake Hospice or Walnut Grove Church.
