OBITUARY

Carlton “Tony” O. Stephens, 85, of St. Marys, OH died 7:32 p.m. Wednesday September 25, 2024 at the Lima Convalescent Home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 5, 1939 in Sylvania, OH to Carlton O. and Hazel (Woodruff) Stephens.

Survivors include: daughter Ginger (Larry) Rogers of Lima, OH

                              son Carl (Susan) Stephens of Lima, OH

                              son Carlton (Rita) Stephens of Columbus Grove, OH

                              daughter Cherie (Jeff) Butcher of Celina, OH

                              daughter Pamela Stephens of  Leipsic, OH

                              son Michael Stephens of St. Marys, OH

                              son Anthony (Stacey) Stephens of St. Marys, OH

                              numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren

                              sister Tonia (Garland) Scarberry of Toledo, OH

                              sister Dee Schmitz of Virginia

                              brother Terry (Loretta) Steffen of Virginia

Preceded in death by: father Carlton O. Stephens; mother Hazel Stephens-Steffen; daughter Teresa Stephens; sister Janice Hanthorn

He retired as a protection employee from the St. Marys Cotton Mills. Prior to that, he worked for many years as a switch operator and yard man for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.

Tony’s favorite pastimes included fishing, camping, playing BINGO and working on jigsaw puzzles. An avid sports fan, he was a longtime supporter of the Cleveland Browns.

Rites are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 2, 2024 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family encourages all in attendance to wear casual clothing to the services (especially Cleveland Browns attire). Tony would have wanted it that way!
