Barbara Mihm Obituary

Barbara Aileen (Boltz) Mihm, 73, of St. Marys, died at 3:08 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the EverHeart Hospice Care unit at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, after an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 17, 1947, in St. Marys, the daughter of Louis Charles  and Millicent Aileen (Chiles) Boltz, who preceded her in death. On April 27, 1968, she married John Lewis Mihm, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Lance L. Mihm, of St. Marys; a sister, Beverly (Pastor Carl) Ward, of Celina; three grandchildren, Juliana Renee Mihm, Caedyn Joseph Ray Mihm, and Ava Rose Mihm, all of St. Marys four sisters-in-law Donna Jean (Denny) Anderson, of Celina, Michele Springer, of Celina, and Carroll (William) Pence, of St. Marys, Deloris (Greg) Bailey, of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Jim (Earlene Schaaf) Mihm, of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Shannon Ray Mihm; and two brothers, Charles and Louis Q. "Toot" Boltz.

Barbara was a 1965 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, where she had been a proud member of the marching band. Barbara was best known for her willingness to help out people in need. There were several occasions where a new pair of shoes or school clothes found their way to somebody, or a shut off utility notice got paid for her friends or family. She enjoyed hanging out at Happy Humpty, Lucky Steer, and McDonalds to drink coffee and spend time talking to her many friends and acquaintances. Barbara loved to collect and had many collections, including Elvis Presley memorabilia, art work, and Beanie Babies, just to name a few. Barbara held many jobs, most recently as a manager at Super Wash in St. Marys. In her retirement, she enjoyed long conversations on the phone with friends and family and spoiling her grandkids.

Barbara enjoyed reunions and family get-togethers, so a carry-in dinner will be held in her remembrance after visitation Saturday at the Mercer County Sportsmen's Association, 7053 State Route 703, Celina. Anyone interested in bringing something to contribute to the meal is encouraged to do so.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Keith Stuck officiating. Remains will be cremated and spread at a location of Barbara's request at a later date.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Saturday and 1:30-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be given to the family.
