Alice A. Sheaks, 90, of St. Marys, OH died unexpectedly Saturday February 6, 2021 at her residence.
She was born January 4, 1931 in Auglaize Co. near Buckland, OH to Virgil and Mildred (Burden) Hager.
On May 30, 1964 she married Robert Sheaks, who died July 12, 1995.
She is survived by a brother Roger Hager of Wapakoneta, OH, sister-in-law Ann Hager of Buckland, OH; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: parents Virgil and Mildred Hager; husband Robert Sheaks; brother Donald Hager; sister Carolyn Davidson
She was a graduate of the Buckland, OH High School (Class of 1948) and Defiance College.
An educator, she worked as a third grade teacher in the St. Marys City Schools for 36 years.
She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and the Auglaize Co. Retired Teachers' Association.
Alice will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman with a passion for helping others. She was especially close to her nephew David Davidson, whom she "took under her wing" following the untimely death of his mother. Determined and independent, she maintained her own home until the time of her passing, and was often seen taking long walks in her neighborhood.
She was a faithful and dynamic follower of Jesus. Her love for God was an inspiration to many. She will be sorely missed by her family and close friends..
Rites are scheduled to begin 1:30 p.m. on Saturday April 17, 2021 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
