Obituary

Adam F. Sturgill, Jr., 68, of St. Marys, OH went to be with the Lord 3:30 p.m. Friday July 29, 2022 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

 

He was born December 8, 1953 in Prestonsburg, KY to Adam and Avonell (Perry) Sturgill, Sr.

 

Survivors include: son James (Kerri) Sturgill of Delphos, OH

                             son Tommy (Katie) Sturgill of Wapakoneta, OH

                             son Josh (Taylor) of Russells Point, OH

                             son Jacob Sturgill of Wapakoneta, OH

                             daughter Tabby Sturgill of Macon, GA

                             3 grandchildren: Kira Sturgill, Christopher Bruce, Nikki Gary, and another due in January 2023.

                             mother Avonell Sturgill of St. Marys, OH

                             brother W. Keith Sturgill of St. Marys, OH

                             brother M. Joe Sturgill of St. Marys, OH

                             sister Freda (Karl) Turner of St. Marys, OH

                             sister Jennifer Dailey of St. Marys, OH

                             one niece and several nephews

 

Preceded in death by: father Adam Sturgill, Sr., brother Roger Dean Sturgill, brother-in-law Dustin Dailey

 

He was a graduate of Bath High School  (Class of 1971) in Lima, OH.

 

A proud American, he served his country in the United States Air Force

 

He had worked at the BP Gas Station in St. Marys and Hegemier Tire Service in Wapakoneta, OH.

 

Adam was a true race fan, following action on the NASCAR circuit, Eldora Speedway and Limaland Speedway. He rooted for the OSU Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers football teams and liked to watch syndicated episodes of MASH on television. More than anything else, he enjoyed reading books – lots and lots of books!

 

Rites are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 4, 2022 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Military funeral honors will follow at the funeral home.

 

Visitation 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
