Thomas Morgan Obituary

 

Thomas A. Morgan, 92, of Saint Marys, Ohio, died September 20, 2018, at  Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen, Ohio.

He was born November 29, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of David and Eunice (Jones) Morgan.

On August 17, 1952, at Salem United Presbyterian Church in Venedocia, Ohio, he married Eleanor Evans, who survives.

 

He is survived by three daughters: Mary Lou Zwiebel of Napoleon, Ohio; Jane (Mark) Dominik of Saint Marys; Susan (Keith) Leffel of New Knoxville, Ohio.

He is survived by his grandchildren: Thomas (Malory) Zwiebel; David (Jen) Zwiebel; Lindsay (fiance Jake Bowling) Zwiebel; Jeremy Dominik; Megan Dominik; Logan Leffel; Morgan Leffel. He is survived by his great-grandchildren: Zach Zwiebel; Lucy Zwiebel; Hayden Zwiebel.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn Morgan and Dwight Morgan.

 

He was a 1943 graduate of York High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII.

 

He owned and operated Morgan Oil Fuel Service and Morgan Marathon on Celina Road in Saint Marys for 35 years.

 

Music was a very important part of his life. In his early years he was in a barbershop quartet. For 45 years he faithfully sang in the choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Saint Marys, where he had been the church treasurer, a deacon, and an elder.

 

He was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys; a 72 year member of American Legion Post 323; a member of VFW Post 9289; Eagles Lodge 767 and Mercer Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons.

 

Funeral rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Doug Williamson, officiant. Burial rites will follow at Venedocia Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from noon until 3:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Grand Lake Hospice or Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ.
