Kathryn “Katie” S. Pearce, 91, formerly of Verona and Dayton, and a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, died 10:24 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018.
She was born March 31, 1927, in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of Lewis and Mae (North) Stiles.
She married Joseph W. Pearce on March 15, 1947; he preceded her in death on May 15, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Stephen) Parks of Vandalia; son-in-law, Mark Gebhart of Lewisburg; by her grandchildren: Brian Parks of Union; Lori (Greg) Fout of Tipp City; Edward (Lisa) Gebhart of Hamilton; Brett (Sandra) Gebhart of Medina.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Samuel Fout; Autumn Gebhart; Amanda Gebhart; Gregory Gebhart; Suzanna Gebhart; Kaitlyn Gebhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Connie Gebhart.
Katie was a graduate of Verona High School in Preble County. She had worked at Ledex Corp in Vandalia, and also Friendship Village Retirement Community, Dayton.
She was very active in the community at Otterbein Saint Marys, where she had taught line dancing, and was famous for her homemade fudge and noodles.
Funeral rites will be held 2:30 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2018, in the Meyer Chapel on the campus of Otterbein Saint Marys, Pastor Carol Sainey and Pastor Bruce McDaniel, officiants. Burial rites will be held Friday at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 1:30 -2:30 Thursday at Otterbein Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Benevolent Fund at Otterbein Saint Marys, or Grand Lake Hospice.
