Irene Thatcher, 86, of Rockford, Ohio, died 8:15 A.M. Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 7, 1933, near Miller City, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard and Ella (Drew) Schuller.
She married Smilie “Bud” Thatcher on February 14, 1952; he preceded her in death in 1970.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Phyllis) Thatcher of Rockford; Ranee (Steve) Leonard of Celina; Nathan Thatcher of Ohio City.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by a daughter-in-law, Karen Thatcher.
She is survived by her siblings: Sharon (Larry) Seibert of Spencerville; Deanne (Harry) Carr of Baldwin, Michigan; Anthony Schuller of Warsaw, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; by her son, Clifford Thatcher; by her siblings: Delores Gilliand; Wayne Schuller; Merle Schuller; Bernadine Jacobs; Marvin Schuller; Alvie Schuller.
Irene was a graduate of Spencerville High School. She retired from Parkway Schools, where she served for many years as a school bus driver and custodian. She was a member of the Lord’s Abounding Grace Church in Celina. She liked watching the Hallmark Channel with her daughter, traveling, flower gardening and cooking. Her passion was helping troubled teenagers.
Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Randy Christian, officiant. Burial will follow at Goodwin Cemetery, Elgin, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Irene’s family.
