Eileen M. Wessel, 85, of 820 Hillcrest Drive in St. Marys, OH died Wednesday September 6, 2017 at Elmwood of New Bremen, OH.

She was born January 17, 1932 in New Knoxville, OH to Ferd and Selma (Elshoff) Haberkamp.

On August 27, 1950 in New Knoxville, OH she married James Wessel, who survives

Also survived by:  son Richard (Linda) Wessel of St. Marys, OH

                             daughter Laureen (David) Dickman of Grand Rapids, MI

                             son Eric Wessel of Lima, OH

                             son Clyde (Chris) Wessel of New Knoxville, OH

                             12 grandchildren   16 great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by: parents Ferd and Selma Haberkamp; sister Bernice Haberkamp; an infant brother; granddaughter Katelyn Wessel; great-grandson Maverick Fishbaugh

She was a graduate of New Knoxville High School (Class of 1950).

She was a farm wife and a school bus driver. In addition, she and her husband worked for several years at Disney World in Orlando, FL.

She was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church in St. Marys and Gideons International.

Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, sewing and taking an active role in her church. Eileen was also a lifetime supporter of NK Ranger sports programs.

Rites are scheduled to begin 10:00 a.m. Tuesday September 12, 2017 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio703 West Chapel) in St. Marys. The Rev. Garland Wilkerson will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.

Visitation 5 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to either St. Jude’s Research Hospital or Animal Resource Foundation (ARF).
