You have our deepest sympathy. We will keep you and the girls and their families in our thoughts and prayers. Buz shared with us at Dad's memorial service his special memories of our dad sending him post cards from the Korean War when he was a young man. It was a piece of family history we did not know and were so happy he shared it with us.

We are deeply saddened by the news of your loss of Mr. Howard. He was a great teacher and role model for us growing up. His passion for helping kids further inspired my desire to become an educator and make a difference in the lives of children. We pray that God will grant you the strength. Our most sincere condolences.

Hello Cheryl & family, I extend my deepest sympathy to you. Buz was such a wonderful person. He was such a good friend to my brother Terry. I have fond memories of their friendship as young boys. I remember the one summer Buz went on a camping trip with our family to Michigan. We had such a fun time! I know he & Terry had a great friendship. I tried to visit Buz last May, but he was not home. I was sad I missed him. I did receive one of his books & have so enjoyed it. He has touched many, many lives & will be greatly missed. My thoughts & prayers are with you all.

I was sad to learn of the death of my high school class mate, Buzz Howard.
I knew him best as someone who was a lot of fun; also smart, energetic, and conscientious. He was a class act. It didn't surprise me that he chose to teach, to write, or to serve the community. Students, words, and people were his values. He left the campfire better than he found it, and we all appreciate him. Barbara Buchanan

I knew Buz through his interest in St, Marys Memorial HS athletics. We got together about ten years ago when he needed some info on his school's football series with Sidney. I'm glad I got to know him even briefly. My best to his family. He was a great Roughrider.

To the family of Mr. Buz Howard. Please accept Donna and my sincere sympathy for the loss of wonderful man who touched so many lives in our community.

Mr. Howard knew that research showed that reading for enjoyment has a direct impact on both academic achievement and quality of life. Mr. Howard had a special way of convincing 16-18 year old students in his class to get excited about reading. Before being a student in his class some 42 years ago, I only read what was required of me...certainly nothing more. I was not interested at all in reading for pleasure. Mr. Howard changed all that for me when I became a student of his. Thanks to Mr. Howard, I am a “pleasure reader” and have read, without a doubt, hundreds of biographies and historical books...yes, just for the enjoyment. Thank you sir!

May Mr. Howard forever rest in peace in the presence of our Lord.

My Dad Clayton Cornell was good friends with Mr. Howard. He was my teacher for English as well as Senior classics. He was a lovely person and always encouraged you to read and use proper grammar. Liked to tease him by saying "ain't got no". Thinking of him makes you smile. My heartfelt prayers are with you at this time.
