Mary Lou Schmitmeyer, 74, of 901 Holly Street, Saint Marys, died  on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, in Fort Loramie, Ohio.

She was  born July 23, 1941, in Egypt, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Siegel) Fortman.

She married John Schmitmeyer on May 21, 1960, in Egypt, Ohio, and he survives at the residence.

She is also survived by her children: Donna (Kurt) Kuffner of Saint Marys; Steve (Kris) Schmitmeyer of Saint Marys; Sandy (Alan) Monnin of Russia, Ohio; Lisa (Dave) Lochtefeld of Celina.

She is survived by her twelve grandchildren: Michael Schmitmeyer; Jill Schmitmeyer; Adam Kuffner; Greg Kuffner; Nathan Kuffner; Abbey Monnin; Jacob Monnin; Joseph Monnin; Eric Lochtefeld; Ryan Lochtefeld; Cole Lochtefeld; Lauren Lochtefeld.

 

She is survived by her siblings: Dave (Dort) Fortman on Minster; Dan (Carol) Fortman of Piqua; Tom (Judy) Fortman of Columbus; Delores (Moe) Bergman of Lebanon, Ohio.

 

She is survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Walt (Erma) Schmitmeyer of New Bremen; Doris (Don) Schmitmeyer of McCartyville; Connie (Emerson) Wagner of Anna; Mary Jo (Vernon) Siegel of Fort Loramie; Joe (Starr) Schmitmeyer of New Weston; Paul Schmitmeyer of Fort Loramie; Mark (Manon) Schmitmeyer of Sidney.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Mary Lou was a 1959 graduate of Minster High School. She retired from the Huffy Manufacturing Company in Celina.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys. She and her husband liked to play cards and travel to casinos to gamble. She was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes, and she loved attending all her grandchildren’s activities.

 

Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend Barry Stechschulte and the Reverend Dan Schmitmeyer, celebrants. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to Holy Rosary School Adopt-A-Student. Condolences may be sent to Mary Lou’s family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
