M. Jean Stroh, 92, of Pataskala, Ohio, and formerly of St. Marys and Lucas, Ohio, died May 18, 2017.

She was born June 27, 1924, in Lima, the daughter of Albert and Opal (Price) Newcomb.

She married Roland W. Stroh on June 22, 1946; he preceded her in death on June 19, 1995.

She is survived by her children: Elaine (Gene) Anderson of Pataskala, Ohio; Gary (Mary Jane Mamola) Stroh of Boulder, Colorado.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Heidi (K.C.) Hickman of Aubrery, Texas; Sherri (Jeff) Elliott of Columbus, Ohio; Gina (fiance Chris Tobias) Anderson of Columbus; by 7 great-grandchildren and by 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a cousin, Kay Newcomb of Granville, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; by a grandson, Michael Hartnagle; by a cousin, James Price.

Jean was a 1942 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, and a 1946 graduate of Miami University, with a degree in music education. She was a retired teacher, who had taught in the St. Marys City School District, Marion Local School District and Neptune Local School. She later owned and operated the Lucas Furniture Store in Lucas, Ohio and Mansfield, Ohio.

While living in St. Marys, Jean was the Youth Choir Director at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, a role she held for 20 years. She was a 60 year member of Order of Eastern Star #119, St. Marys, and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.

Funeral rites will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
